Bicester Resource Centre Receives Gift from Village Players
Each year the Launton Village Players stage a pantomime in February, in Cooper School Performance Hall.
This year, the show ‘Simple Simon’, not only gave great pleasure over 6 performances to many people, young
and old, but also raised a substantial amount of money for charities and organisations, both local and national.
One of these to benefit was Oxon County Council’s Bicester Resource Centre, in Launton Road, Bicester, which provides
a daytime help and support to mainly older people in the area.
Whilst mainly funded by local government for its day to day expenses, extra activities not seen as essential, but which
greatly add to this very valuable service, have to be covered by an amenity fund. This fund relies on donations, and fund
raising projects.
This year it was the recipient of £100 from the Launton Village Players, and seen above is David Thompson handing over
the cheque to Catherine Blaxhall, Manager of Bicester Resource Centre.
Catherine said, “It is with generous donations such as these that we can continue to improve and enhance the service
we give to many older people within Bicester and the surrounding area.”
David Thompson said, “There are many many people doing a great job in helping to look after the needs of local people.
I hope this donation will allow The Bicester Resource Centre to continue to add to the very valuable service they are currently
giving.”
