| Shoebox 'Ingredients' |
The Launton Shoebox Appeal gets going around the beginning of October.
An open house day is normally held, with coffee, lunch, tea and evening drinks all being served.
This day not only raises money to buy extra fillers for the boxes, but acts as the incentive for everyone involved to
get going on this very worthwhile cause.

Towards the end of October, the boxes are collected or start arriving at the marshalling point, normally a house in Launton.
At the beginning of November, a band of volunteers goes down on Mondays, normally to Abingdon, to check, and pack
the boxes, with all those collected from throughout the region.

The whole experience is really fulfilling, knowing that some child in a very poor part of Easter Europe will benefit
from everyone's generosity.
What I like about it is that all that you donate is given to the children, it is not like many charities, where a large
slice of what you donate is taken as administration.
