On a very, very hot end of September day, the Launton Plotters held their first open day.

And what an amazing job all the allotment holders had done to make this a very special day.

In just under 5 months the field has been transformed from nothing to a green allotment
patch, with sheds of differing sizes and colours.

It was as if the field had been there as
allotments since time began!!

With an official opening by Mrs Deeley, and thanks to Mr and Mrs Deeley being given by Gordon Fowler, proceedings got under way.

Gordon gave an insight into the trials and tribulations involved in getting the allotments up and running, which included mountains of paper work to get through.

Thanks were given to many involved in this very successful venture.

Not only do Launton School have a plot, but also Bardwell School in Bicester.

A blessing was given by Margaret Mullins, vicar of Launton, on the field itself.

Categories were judged by staff from a very supportive Homebase, (prizes donated by them, and also raffle prizes).

Winner of the longest marrow prize was Carol Hill.

The new logo, designed by a pupil from Launton School, was also unveiled.

Like the Launton Island Pond Wood, this is another great village resource, and all those who look enviously on from the by pass await next year's new crop of  plants, sheds and scarecrows!!
