The aims of the group are to liaise with The Woodland Trust, to monitor the progress
of the wood, to report any adverse actions or abuse in the wood, and to promote the use and enjoyment of the wood by villagers.
The group carries out an annual spring clean up, and have had training days to help
people to be able to prune the oak trees. It has also planted bluebells.
It relies on the support of volunteers for this, and all help is welcome!!
It is particularly grateful to Jewson's Builders' Merchant in Station
Road for the donation of hard hats as modelled by members of the Friends of Island Pond Wood. Expensive
items such as these are now of course needed to comply with risk assessments, and new health and safety rules.
If you are a local business and you feel you could match this sort of very generous support,
and gain extra publicity both in print and on the web, then please contact us.
