Launton Archive Launton Gavray Association Champagne Visit April 2011

 

Visit to Epernay, France,  Friday April 29th to Monday May 2nd 2011
(Royal Wedding and May Day Week End)

It is proposed to visit Epernay in the Champagne Region on the above date.

The town has
many Champagne Houses in the famous Avenue du Champagne.

The main houses to visit are:

Moet and Chandon Visit costs 15 euros per person and includes glass Champagne.

De Castellane

Mercier

Vranken

De Venoge

Heidsieck

Gauthier


The other lesser known houses in the same Avenue.


Most of the houses are open from 10am to 12.00 and 2.00 pm to 4.30 or later.

The Tourist I
nformation Office is in the same avenue and will provide much information.

It is suggested that for your stay the Ibis Hotel in the centre of Epernay should be your base.

The cost including breakfast for the 3 nights is £180.79 per double room. Yes it really is I have just booked it, and the booking terms allow you to cancel as well, (please confirm this for yourself).

Eurotunnel is about £90.00 and of course you can use Tesco Vouchers. (Need to book by phone if using vouchers, and check that they can be used).

The route from Calais is A26 to St. Quentin, Laon and Reims.

Take exit 25 to D951 Epernay.
 

Approx. travelling time from Calais is 3.00 hrs and mileage is 190 miles.

Other visits in the region can be suggested during this visit.

It should be a great week end, and we can toast the new Royal Couple in Epernay on Friday Evening 29th April.
